CHCA ENGLISH ↔ FRENCH TERMINOLOGY INFORMATION

Much of the Canadian Home Care Association's terminology and expressions can be found on this client's website that has both English and French versions. (See accompanying links above.)

Documentation related to this client's activities often cites a study, program or project titles that originate with other organizations that may have been translated but cannot be located on its website. A search via Google of the full title will usually generate results that show the title's origin (and its French version, if it exists).>

Oftentimes the best way to find the originating organization is by way of the media news release that may have been issued when the study, program or project was first announced. We recommend following that trail when such a link appears in search results. Canada NewsWire often features bilingual versions of a press release and the official title in both English & French may be unearthed there.

Other search avenues would be healthcare related websites (medical, nursing, Health Canada, provincial ministries of health, etc.).

Time-Saving Tip #1: If the page you have navigated to contains a great deal of text, you can avoid having to read or scroll the whole page by simply searching the page for the expression you are seeking in order to find its relative position. Note: To search a web page, use your browser's Search Capability (not the website's search function).

Time-Saving Tip #2: The process of toggling between English and French pages can be a bit arduous in some instances. One technique that works for us is to open two web pages, one that is kept on the location of the English, while the second is scrolled to find the French equivalent.
